Sweden is affected by human trafficking as a destination and, to a lesser extent, as a transit country. The three biggest cities, the capital of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, seem to be most exposed to the phenomenon.
The most common form of trafficking is for sexual exploitation. During the last few years, Sweden has had some cases of trafficking for begging and petty theft. Swedish authorities also suspect trafficking of berry pickers and asphalt-pavers. There is also concern that asylum-seeking unaccompanied children constitute a group at risk for TBH.
