Hungary is a country of origin, transit and destination of VoTs since the 1990s.

It serves especially as a transit country towards certain EU Member States for illicit migrants have been coming from Afghanistan, but also from Iran, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, as well as from Moldavia, Serbia, Kosovo and from Africa (Somalia, Nigeria). In August 2011 Hungary was reached by the refugees of the “Arabic Spring” placed the Hungarian border along Ukraine, Romania and Serbia under an increased pressure.

The major destination countries where Hungarian victims are exploited are: Austria, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the USA.
